Never EVER work at Pepsi. They will start you off at around $44,000 in salary with an 8-10% bonus per year. You are expected to be at work at around 7:00a.m. and if you are done at 5 p.m. they will look down at you. You are also expected to check your stores on the weekends, and God help you if you do not answer your calls that come in at 4 in the morning. They will promise and promise lofty paychecks in just a couple of years, and it never happens.
The only bene there is the health insurance.
I have heard that it is the same at Coke.

Wow! At least the pay increased!! When I was a pre-sales rep it was $38,500 plus commissions. we had to be on the streets at 5:30am. Had to manage our piece of crap merchandisers who could never figure out how you wanted your display built!

If they are requiring that you work more than 40hrs per week w/o overtime, then they are in violation of overtime laws. It doesn't matter that you are a salaried employee. You may want to contact one of the attorneys that have been successful with pharmaceutical overtime suits.

We get OT out of our Pepsi distro. But its Backwards OT. they only pay us 8bucks an hour over 40 hours. They say "It's cause were Salary". But when I ask for addition Salary guaranteed benefits. Like Tuition assistance. Then we are on the books as hourly and no eligible! And in return when asked "why aren't we paid time and a half for our OT". They reply "because your salary".

And any complaint is responded by " Then find another job"!

Don't ever work for this company , they treat you like a piece of shit. I have been working for pepsi for 10 years and only make 10 bucks a hour. This company is starting people off more than I make. Employees steal here and use company assets on personal time. If they had people with common sense it would be a better place. Our managers have no CLUE what a business is! Don't know how the hell they got the job. The company would hire outside the company before promoting a current employee. WHAT A WASTE OF MY LIFE WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY , hope this helps people thinking about applying for PEPSI. GO TO COKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not all plants are union. Even our union plant is terrible. Oh sure, OT money is great, but if you spend all your time recovering from a 15 hour day in bed, when the hell are you supposed to spend that OT money?

15 hours is a mofo. You aren't forced to work that kind of OT are you?

I would think there would be a difference between a bottler and a Frito-Lay route salesperson. This would probably change for a bottler though since the acquistion back in Feb-2010.

I can tell you from personal experience it is not a good place to work. corrupt from the inside out its the same at nearly every plant too many hrs too much work, lke the one guy said you can make good money, but not really after you look at all the hours, not to mention not spending time with family and friends, this company will really ruin your life and has to many of my coworkers.Find a company that doesnt sell stimulants to children and isnt trying to use you to sell as much and as fast as possible. Profit before lives they are motivated by greed.

I worked there as a contract at the headoffice in sales dept.

I loved my team, but I do agree very long hours 40+ (around 50-65 hours...). But if you work hard at it, it does get noticed and eventually pays off... Although vertical movement upwards is a VERY slow process because they do believe in the work your way up the corporate ladder concept.

I would not want to start my career there, because once you in, your in for life (great for job security).... BUT if you leave, don't ever consider going back.

I currently work there and have been there for 7 years in various positions. I've never seen things as bad as they have been in the past 1.5 years. (new upper mgmt due to merger). They make all kinds of promises for pay increases, bonuses, promotions, etc, but it never happens (or at least very rarely). Most of our presell reps are a very small base salary plus commission, but they manage to lower commissions and you car reimbursements alllll the time. I personally am salary in my sales position and am not a presell rep, but I am expected to work a MINIMUM of 10 hours a day, including many weekends. I am also expected to answer my phone and essentially be "on call" for my accounts 24/7. However, they are very creative in going about this, and don't say it in that many words. I am waiting for the day for them to GPS me (via our phones and what not, which some locations actually do) and to say anything when I come home after 8.5 or 9 hours. I will be making a phone call to an attorney immediately after, especially since the salary checks are paid at 80 hours every two weeks and it's common to work significantly longer than that (even though I try to come home after 9 hours, it doesn't usually happen). A common raise for everyone at my plant, across the board, regardless of how hard you work or how good you are, is 1-2.5%...and then after you get your insult of a raise at, say 1%, they jack up your insurance, etc and lower your car reimbursement for some cockamamie reason by $20/month, and the next thing you know, you're making a couple grand LESS than you were the year before.

If I could give someone any advice, it would be to not work for this company. ESP as a pre-sell rep...I feel very bad to witness what those reps go through at my location. They typically need to drive to 25-30 existing accounts A DAY and still try to open up new business and meet those quotas. It's common for them to work 12-14 hours a day for probably about 60K a year after it's all said and done...maybe 70K if they have a good territory where product moves.

Wow! everyone seems to be on the same page, this must be true... my husband worked for Pepsico as well and he had a great time there at the previous location, we recently relocated to Ga. and re-applied to pepsico, was hired and things are definitely different here, he seems to be quite unhappy there so far due to the lack of communication within the plant, HR is never around, supervisor's are no where to be found. Just basically getting information out to employees from management is extremely unprofessional. How can they have a large plant and not having essential personnel on site such as HR management? Information gets put out to employees through the company website with deadlines but employees are so busy working 13hour shifts; (which by the way should be illegal but nobody cares) they get the message late. They need to hire more people but they wont, they rather work the few they have to death at minimal pay. Oh by the way the pay do suck here, we lost almost $10 per hour for the same job crazy, crazy... But in my opinion; nothing gets done until people take matters into their own hands for life to be better at Pepsi... Where are the unions here in Ga?

Working for Pepsi in GA must be like being working for "Kosher Foods Inc." in Nazi Germany. That's Coke's territory and they will defend it appropriately.
