Do not ever work for this company unless you are just a college kid looking to get some real life work experience. No pay, no respect and miserable employees!!! Worst 6 years of my life. Do not overstay your welcome. By the way no other employers respect the time you put into this company.

I had worked in pharma and decided to make a career change and thought that I can really succeed with enterprise but after a month and a half of employment I went back to pharma. It was hard trying to go on interviews and they don't allow time off. Luckily I had three interviews. I wouldn't recommend Enterprise.

sure if you have an oppurtunity to work in pharma then great, but most people that work at enterprise are using it as a stepping stone to pharma, no one will debate that enterprise is better then pharma

I agree that Enterprise is a miserable job. But I have found that most companies do like the experience.

Hmmm. So, "would you like to upgrade for an extra $10", or "are you taking the insurance?" is a stepping stone to, "what can I buy the staff for lunch today?"

ha! enterprise ppl would kill for a job in pharma. pharma reps make double the salary and work half the hours. and with layoffs, you just go on to the next pharma company and double dip on severence from your old one. enterprise was known for having a great management development program. but the ppl i know in the program think it's a joke.

Serve your time there...it's shitty, if you can get to branch manager great, then update your resume and skip pharma, apply straight to med device. Pharma is not a stepping stone for device, they actually look down on pharma.
I learned the hard way. Good luck.

That is not totally true about pharma. One problem though is that if you have proven yourself over a long time in pharma, you will likely have too high a salary for most starting device positions. I know a manager with a leading trauma device company and he runs into this all the time.
Even though there reps can make 250k and more once they are established in their own territories, they make less than 75k for the first two years. Established pharma reps will likely find it hard to step down to that for two years.

I'm interested in Pharma.... Enterprise sucks. They treat their employees like crap and could care less about if anything is to happen to you. I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks due to a heart attack and they pointed me the WHOLE 2 weeks. Knowing that I was hospitalized. Tried to terminate me because of it. They terminated my friend because he couldn't shave his face due to a medical issue and he sued them and got $23,000 in damages plus unemployment... Plus another friend was hopitalized due to a car accident and they terminated him.
Andy Taylor your company sucks when it comes to taking care of your employees.

Sounds like a pretty cold company. It doesn't seem to make sense to treat your employees this way.
Even in an economy with so many looking for work, they should know that things will eventually change and they will lose anyone of value. On the other hand, enterprise seems to be primarily a stepping stone and they are probably fine with a high level of turnover.

Right now at least 1 in 5 college grads cannot find a job. At the least it pays the bills and you get experience to start your career off in the right direction. If you are good at your job not only selling but talking to people in general other opportunities will find you. Enterprise is a great place and the best in its industry. You cannot be lazy and you have to be friendly. I find that most people who do not like to work at Enterprise has not succeeded with them and probably should have not been hired in the first place. That is why employers look at Enterprise on a resume and think positive. The logic is this person will work really hard, probably self-motivated, and has an energetic personality.

If you can sell??? Theere is nothing funnier to hear then the words sell coming from someone in pharma or at a car rental place. You sell nothing, get over it, get used to it, you are both glorified delivery men and retail sales.

Pharma is not a bad job. I've never rented cars, but every time I went to ERAC to get a car while mine was being repaired, the people would always ask me how to get into the industry. To the person who thinks that all reps do is bring lunch to offices, then I don't know who you talked to or if you are a pharma rep, you aren't doing your job. There is much more to being a pharma rep and everyone always focuses on the perks that reps get. A pharma rep who is doing their job does much more than just bring food to offices. I would say if you have the opportunity to get into pharma from renting cars, then do it. If you get an interview, then call in sick and don't miss the opportunity. At the interview explain that ERAC is hard to get away for interviews and see if they can work with your schedule, like after hours.

If you think there is "no selling" in pharma, then you have either never done the job or been grossly mislead. Pharma is all sales. Not only selling the product, but yourself, just to get in the office and have the right. Getting past the gate keepers, is one of the biggest challenges. If you think convincing or getting a doctor to use one drug over another that are only slightly different in side effects and efficacy is not easy, then you don't know what sales are. On top of that, you don't know what is happening in pharma until usually 3 months later because of the lag time with the data.

I am a manager and wouldn't hire anyone from Enterprise. to me its not sales. Device, industrial, and payroll are good entry points for sales as well as wine sales.

"Energetic personality?" They are miserable and angry. The men generally dress like slobs. Fat. Sweaty. No jacket, but they wear a tie?

I am still currently working with them and will be there 3 years in March...actually enjoy it and for me it is actually one of the best jobs I have had. Not too many places let your domestic partner on your insurance and other companies provided insurance at a much higher premium and $1500 annual deductible. This job is less stress for me due to the fact that it is all on me - no one trying to get me to do their job and causing problems. Guess it's all in the way you look at things. Sorry things weren't as good for you here. Plan on staying myself.

Good to see somebody who actually enjoys his job. I have always thought that Enterprise would me more like a stepping stone to something better. Do you make enough with salary and benefits to see it as a long term gig?
