Are there any good b2b sales positions that offer stock options? I know stocks may not be to attractive right now, but it is also a good time to get a good option grant.

I am not sure which companies may offer stock options, but you may want to look at software startups as a possibility. Options are always nice but don't let talk of possible riches with options keep you in a situation where you aren't making money for too long.

We have all heard to stories of employees becoming millionares from options, but this doesn't happen too often. Also make sure to read the fine print and think of all the scenarios involving options. For example a lot of companies may have a clause that specifies that you exercise all options within 90 days of leaving the company. Some may say that all options vest immediately if the company is bought out, but that is not a guarantee.

It is good to get the options, but be educated about them and be realistic about the company.

Also you have to know when to take the winnings off of the table. I knew some reps at Elan who were vested in over a million dollars worth of options and watched it go to 0 in about two weeks. After taxes it would have only been about 500k, but that would have been a whole lot better than 0.
