Does this job make you an alcoholic?

Man, I think I started drinking too much when I was in this biz. I certainly worked with people who drank too much. I got used to all the free "samples" and freebies from associates. Now I am out of the business but drink all the time anyway to this day. Just last night I went through a bottle and a half of vino. I guess this job can make a person into a red-nosed boozer!

I don't think it is fair to say this job makes you an alcoholic, but it definitely can be a challenge for people who might have a tendency toward alcoholism. Most people know if they can or cannot handle their liquor. If you are someone who cannot, I don't recommend that you take a job in this industry. Reading your quote above it seems that you feel like you might have a problem. If you do I strongly suggest you get some help. Google alcoholics anonymous and also look at WEBMD.com I am not accusing you of having a problem but you seem like you are reaching out for a little help and if you are I hope you find it.

It doesn't make you an alcoholic per se, but it does expose you to a great deal of it. Some deal with it well, some don't.
